Cathy Connally on Amazon wrote:Gina’s recipes are very straight forward and easy to make. The ingredients are all fresh and whole. She gives you suggestions on how to modify recipes if you follow a certain diet, provides a little history about the dish and the culture, and ends each dish with a wine pairing recommendation. She even includes her family in the book, which I thought was a nice added touch! There are so many recipes to choose from, that for me, the hardest part was deciding what to make first!
William on Amazon wrote:I love that each recipe has the history and story for it. This helps set the context for why you would want to make that recipe. Gina's diverse knowledge of foods from around the world along with her knowledge of wines makes enjoyment of each meal more complete.
A favourite of mine is the Greek Goddess salad with its deep roots in an ancient Mediterranean culture. The picture and setting are lovely and make you want to dive right in.
Another really unusual recipe for me was the “Kissable Kibbeh to Caress your Palate” with a great picture of her mother making this unique dish. It is helpful to have notes about what to do if you cannot find certain ingredients so that you can still enjoy the recipe and make it.
Since the beginning of last week, I had this craving for a savory and rustic dish. This book was recommended by a friend, and I was curious to see what it had to offer. I’m not exactly savvy when it comes to cooking, I usually just want to find the simplest, quickest way to get my food from scratch to the dinner plate. I don’t like drive throughs or waiting in line for a meal. I’m not the type to wait to be served in a restaurant and I dislike browsing through websites which are riddled with ads.
To my delight, this cookbook has simple instructions, and the categories are color-coded for easy access. I set out to buy the ingredients, and for sure, the instructions were easy for me to follow. Each recipe has their instructions clear and concise. I made the Chicken Cacciatore and it came out delicious.
There’s a plethora of dishes to choose from, some wine pairings, and lots of great tips. I highly recommend this cookbook.
