Updating the bedroom #4
…as William Thacker would put it. An awkward thrust of the pillow and boom …poor Basisk. How beastly! That was actually a wall spotlight, with a clear lacquered wall bracket made of birch plywood (newer versions included a nickel-plated cover) & a shade of mouth-blown white glass. (You can have a better look at our set of two here).
That glass shade was definitely something to reconsider —should glass-anything be hanging over our heads, in bed? Why didn’t I think of that before?— because at the time of said pillow thrust, M. was lying under it and got literally showered with all the broken bits and pieces! Plus I had to be extra thorough when picking it all up. I was really concerned a tiny little piece might have got pinned to the mattress, headboard or elsewhere in the bedding! So, had the product not been discontinued, even though the lamp on my side was ok and it would have saved us money to replace only the broken part, I would have still been skeptical.
Dilemma put aside, since the Basisk wall lamp is no longer sold, I chose the Årstid wall lamps instead: they have a steel & brush finish nickel-plated wall plate & arm, and the shade is 70% polyester, 30% cotton. Pillow-fights just got smoother!
